"><br /> This is part of a defensive wall at Castell Henllys which is an iron age hill fort in West Wales. The occupants either ran out of time, materials or inclination as the rest of the fortifications consisted of ditches and ramparts surmounted by a wooden pallisade. This is a fascinating place to visit as the houses have been recreated using the original foundations, so when you enter one of the houses, one is literally stepping back 2000 years and standing in the footprints of the Celts who lived there! This section of wall is beginning to slip. The challenge facing the archaeologists is how to prevent it deteriorating without covering it from public view.
